singstar-ps3SingStar, Sony’s karaoke game series, which rates you on pitch performance, has notched up over 16 million sales in just 5 years in Europe and Australia. The series has been sold in 67 countries, and is available not just in English, but also Croatian, Finnish and Portugese.

GamesIndustry.biz’s SingStar stat overload to celebrate the series’ fifth anniversary also takes in several other fascinating nuggets: the most popular time to download SingStar tracks is between 8 and 11 pm Friday and Saturday nights (that’ll explain Bonnie Tyler being the most downloaded track, then); the Sony PS3 SingStore has seen over four million tracks downloaded from it to date; and SingStar has won three Guinness World Records including “First Customisable Track In A Singing Game.” Time was when a Guinness World Record meant you needed to be able to balance eggs on your nose, or something…
