nintendo-mii-to-dsNintendo Wii’s personalised “Mii” avatars are to be transferable to the Nintendo DS handheld console. The news emerged after Nintendo sent US journalists a copy of its Nintendo DS Walk With Me: Do You Know Your Walking Routine? software (Personal Trainer: Walking in the US), the first program to support Miis.

US site Kotaku reports that alongside copies of the game, Nintendo has revealed that if users go to the Mii channel and press the following combination of buttons: A, B, 1, then hold 2, the screen shown appears – letting the Nintendo DS handheld communicate with the Nintendo Wii’s Mii channel in order to copy across Miis to the handheld console.

In Walk With Me: Do You Know Your Walking Routine?, the Mii demonstrates how far you’ve walked. But there must be a host of other great potential handheld uses of Nintendo Miis. And, what other secret combinations of buttons are built into the Nintendo Wii…

Does the appeal of Miis on the DS compare to the appeal of downloading and renting games as well as movies on the rival Sony PSP, though?
