Gmail looks like it’s about to get a new feature, Magic Inbox. No, it’s not the April Fools prank Gmail feature that answers all of your emails for you, but what is it?
We usually hear about new Gmail features on Google’s official Gmail blog first, but a bit of code digging has turned up something the big G has yet to confirm: Gmail Magic Inbox.
Top 10 overlooked Gmail features
What could it be? Google Operating System, which found the code, predicts that Gmail Magic Inbox will prioritise friends and frequent contacts at the top of your inbox, so you can see what’s likely to be most pressing right away. That’s hinted by another bit of code showing google has a “Sort by priority” option planned, and previous reports that Gmail would be getting social networking features.
Google hasn’t confirmed if Gmail Magic Inbox will be a new Gmail Labs feature, but we certainly hope so. Gmail is already stuffed with top features, but we’ll take even more any day.
