Pelé, he of Brazilian football and impotence advert fame, is working with games publisher Ubisoft, on Academy Of Champions – a “rich, story-driven adventure” football game for the Nintendo Wii aimed at “kids and families”.
Academy Of Champions may not be a rival to FIFA or Pro Evolution Soccer. But Ubisoft says it will feature support for both the Nintendo Wii Balance Board and MotionPlus peripherals when it launches, this year.
Pelé said of the game: “Football is a sport that is universally celebrated. It is a thrill to continue to inspire a new generation of fans through an entertainment medium that introduces them to the exciting world of football.” As if they weren’t already familiar with football videogames!
