Fallout 3 DLC is coming to the PS3 at last as Microsoft’s iron grip on DLC exclusivity finally starts to loosen. Bethesda has announced that, starting this June, the three current Fallout 3 DLC packs – Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt and Broken Steel – will be reaching the PlayStation Store. Furthermore, there are two additional sets of DLC in the pipeline: Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta.
The first set of Fallout 3 DLC, Operation: Anchorage, is expected to launch sometime in late June; the other two, The Pitt and Broken Steel will follow in 4-6 week intervals.
This is brilliant news for PS3 owners, for whom the lack of DLC has felt like a cruel and unnecessary blow. It’s great to see Bethesda putting a stop to the discrimination – are you taking notes, Rockstar? Unlike their Xbox 360 counterparts, PS3 players can expect their add-on content to work as promised too.
Bethesda has also released some details of the two upcoming sets of DLC. Point Lookout is described as a massive new swampland. Naturally, it’ll be filled with unspeakable mutant beasties, quests and new people to chat to and so forth. It’s coming to Xbox 360 and PC in June, costing 800 Microsoft points, and will arrive on PS3 after the other three have launched.
Mothership Zeta is a little more wacky. The aliens have landed and they’ll be snaffling you away to their spaceship, where, presumably, you’ll introduce them to the business end of your minigun. Once again, we’re talking 800 Microsoft points and a later release on PS3. It’ll be hitting PC and Xbox 360 in July.
