UPDATE: Picture changed so you can see the Twitter widget in action now. Looks good, no?

Samsung has just added a Twitter widget to its Internet@TV service, meaning you’ll be able to see what the tweeps you’re following are saying from the comfort of your sofa.

Twitter clients for mobile phones are nothing new, but a Twitter widget on your flatscreen certainly is. Samsung has just announced that it’s bringing Twitter to its Internet@ enabled TVs, including the Samsung LED 6000, 7000 and 8000 TVs, and Samsung 6 and 7 series LCD panels.

Samsung already allows you to access YouTube, Flickr and Yahoo! services via Samsung Internet@ TVs, but a Twitter widget could be seriously useful to watch feeds of your friends roll in in realtime. Or seriously annoying if you’ve recorded Match Of The Day and don’t want to know the scores.

We’re chasing up more info on the Samsung Twitter widget, but Samsung has told us it should be available to try out for free, right now, and will even let you Tweet via your remote. What’re you waiting for?
