The Nokia N97 has just gone up for pre-order on the official Nokia UK online store. Want to know how much the touchscreen smartphone that sparked a pricing rumour war will actually cost? Read on to find out.

The precise release date may be up in the air still, but you can place dibs on a Nokia N97 of your very own right now in black or white for £499.95 SIM-free on the Nokia online store. That’s a big chunk less than originally rumoured, so kudos to Nokia for being as good as its word on reigning in the sum.

Nokia N97 hands-on

The Nokia N97 will be the first Nokia phone to come preloaded with Ovi Store, the Finnish phone company’s answer to the iPhone App Store, set to be stocked with programs and services to make every other smartphone platform jealous. With any luck, the Nokia N97 release date should be set in stone soon, so we should get more news on network carriers for the QWERTY touchscreen mash-up mobile with 32GB of storage then.
