Digg is preparing for a major revamp, and founder Kevin Rose has promised a more “realtime” redesign for the social media site. Will you be able to give breaking stories the thumbs up as they fly by? Read on to find out!
It’s no secret that Digg is worried about the up to the minute, realtime, organic nature of microblogging service Twitter: earlier this year Digg founder Rose launched WeFollow, a directory of Twitter users by category, in an attempt to cash in on the skyrocketing success of the service.
Now though, Digg is looking to bring some of that cutting edge chic to the social media voting site itself. Kevin Rose has promise the “biggest overhaul” for Digg yet, with a major revamp coming some time in the next six months. Rose wouldn’t give specifics, but he did let slip “I believe that it’s time for Digg to get a little bit more real-time in nature…we need to be a living and breathing site.”
So, what’s Digg paving the way for on the site? Twitter integration? A realtime stream of its very own? It’d be great to see breaking stories rising up the page as they happen. Answers on a postcard please.
