An Apple netbook may still be just a myth, but a recent update to Mac OS X, the Mac operating system, has boosted performance on hackintosh netbooks massively. Now, why would Apple go and do that?
Hacking Mac OS X onto netbooks to make an Apple netbook has become a popular past time for owners of the lil’ laptops, but MSI Wind owners were surprised to find a recent Mac OS X update, 10.5.7, boosted the battery life. reportedly by up to a third.
Now, it could be that power management has simply been tweaked, but given all the rumours surrounding an Apple tablet, Apple netbook or MacBook 3G over recent months, an OS X update to improve battery life on Atom based computers could mean that an Apple netbook or portable device is being prepped.
Apple CEO Tim Cook has dismissed the critters in the past, but with some big announcements expected at WWDC next month, could we be about to see a U turn on an Apple netbook? Hopefully we’ll find out come 8 June.









I was sort of hoping that the rumored iPad or iTablet would be running Mobile OSX and not the desktop version. User would then be able to use the App Store to download games and applications and would require less hardware resources. OSX desktop seems like overkill for a netbook device.
