The Android continues its march to global domination (or ubiquity, at any rate) with the announcement of a digital photo frame that will run the mobile operating system.
Android is everywhere at the moment – new Android smartphones are popping up like whack-a-mole and several Android-powered netbooks are in the works . The announcement of a Digital Photo Frame running Android seems a bit odd at first glance, however – but it does make a fair bit of sense on closer inspection.
Fujitsu Software Technologies Ltd and Japanese firm Macnica Inc have come up with the snappily named Software Platform for Home Network Digital Photo Frame – a digital photo frame running on Android that takes the basic photo frame idea and enhances with with home network integration, touchscreen features and some nifty photo processing.
Android’s networking ability lets you share and access a library of photos on your home network, while Macnica has contributed its Marbo PictImpact software which can run your pics through a variety of filters such as an ‘oil painting’ or ‘pencil drawing’Â effect.
