The Toshiba Dynabook SS RX2, Toshiba’s latest 12.1-inch laptop, just made it past the post to be the world’s first laptop with a 512GB SSD inside. Read on to find out how much that prestige will cost you.
We’re not sure how Toshiba did it, but it managed to fit a 512GB SSD drive inside the Toshiba Dynabook SS RX2, even though it’s only a few millimetres thicker than the MSI X-Slim series. In other words, with the Toshiba Dynabook SS RX2 you get all the speed and safety of an SSD drive, with none of the space limitation compared to old school hard drives.
That doesn’t come at a cost to anything other hardware mind: the Toshiba Dynabook SS RX2 still fits in a 1.4GHz Intel CULV chip, 3GB of RAM and even a DVD drive.
But hang on, didn’t Asus announce the world’s first laptop with a 512GB SSD earlier this year? They did, and then the world’s first with a 1TB SSD. But like the Eee Keyboard and Asus M50, they’re still MIA: the Toshiba Dynabook SS RX2 is shipping right now.
The Toshiba Dynabook SS RX2 is Japan only for the moment, but take solace in the fact that this is the future of laptop tech right here, so it should arrive in the UK eventually. Hopefully, without the £2,750 pricetag in tow.

£2,750 ?!! no, thanks!
