The SkyTone Alpha 680 is the cute looking netbook-cum-tablet from Korea that runs the Android operating system usually found in the G1, HTC Magic, et al. We saw an advert and a user interface demo last month and now someone has tracked down some close-up pictures of the prototype.
The SkyTone Alpha 680 had us all excited when we first head about its combination of the nippy Android OS with a netbook form factor and a low, low price of $99. Sadly, it looks like the pricing may have been a bit premature – $250 may be closer to the mark.
Still, from the look of thse pictures it is still a cute little fella. That 7-inch screen is a touchscreen running at 800×480 (much like the early Eee PCs) and the twisty hinge turns a decent netbook into a little Android tablet. Add a 3G card & Skype and you could pretend you have a Dom Joly-style giant Android phone.
We are a bit unsure about the eye-searing colour scheme but this is a prototype – perhaps they want to make sure they don’t lose it.
