Hugo Chavez, Venezuela’s infamously arrogant president, has released his own mobile, the Vergatorio phone. Or, for those fluent in Venezuelan slang, penis phone.
In many respects, the Vergatorio is a smart business move. It costs just £10 to make, and still fits in WAP browsing and MP3 playing skills, so it should make a mint in developing countries. There’s just the large problem of the genital references.
Chavez displayed his usual cockiness in launching the Vergatorio though, declaring “This telephone will be the biggest seller not only in Venezuela but the world. Whoever doesn’t have a Vergatario is nothing.”
Hugo Chavez nationalised the company that made the penis phone, so he’s pretty sure this will pull in the pounds (Or Bolivars) – he’s so proud of the penis phone he even called his mother on it during the launch. We’ll let you know if it turns out to be a flop.

Verga does not necessarily mean penis. Verga in Venezuela, is something good, something that is incredible. For example: Pele is the verga! But, in some places, and depend of contex, could mean penis.
