Apple confirms no Steve Jobs for WWDC keynote

May 13th, 2009

Apple has just confirmed the details for the WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) keynote next month, and we now know for certain that Steve Jobs won’t be hosting the show.

Apple has just announced that the WWDC keynote will take place on Monday 8 June at 10am Pacific time, and taking the stage will be Apple VP of worldwide product marketing, Phil Schiller. Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who took leave in January, won’t be on hand to whip the covers off new Apple goodies.

The new iPhone: what we know so far

In fairness, Apple has always said that the company’s founder will return to work at the end of June, but this should put to pay to any wishful thinking of an early return.

So the uncharismatic Schiller will be at the helm for an Apple keynote again. On the plus side, Apple has said that it’ll be showing off a final developer preview of Snow Leopard, the next Mac OS X, we should see a new iPhone, and maybe even a MacBook 3G and Mac tablet. Will there even be anything left for Steve to do when comes back?
