T-Mobile boss Cole Brodman has said that the company expects to launch new Android handsets from three different manufacturers, later this year.
T-Mobile is committing to the Android platform in a big way. After launching the first Android phone – the G1. “We are looking to launch multiple Android-based devices in the second half of this year with three partners,” T-Mobile CEO Cole Brodman told GigaOm.com.
Three? Well, the newly revealed Samsung Bigfoot is a likely contender, and we already know that T-Mobile is planning to release an Android handset from Huawei, but who could be the third?
In the US, at least, T-Mobile will be releasing the HTC Magic – but that is due in the next week or so, way ahead of the “second half of this year” mentoned by Brodman. Our best guess is either a third HTC handset – possibly the HTC Hero – or perhaps something new bubbling up from Motorola. Either way, it looks like you wont be able to move for Androids around T-Mobile’s HQ later this year.
