CoPilot Live 7 HD, the hi-res version of ALK’s satnav software for phones, has just turned on the ignition, and makes full use of your touchscreen Windows Mobile smartphone’s WVGA screen.

We’ve seen a slate of sparkling 800×480 resolution smartphones in recent months (The HTC Touch HD and HTC Touch Diamond2, to name a few), and now CoPilot Live 7 has got an HD edition to make full use of that crystal clear resolution.

CoPilot Live 7 HD lets you use your phone in landscape mode, and with Windows Mobile phones reaching up to 4.1 inches in size, that blurs the boundary between phones and dedicated satnavs in a big way. And because the phones have web access built in, CoPilot Live 7 HD will even let you share your location online and allow friends to send you new pick up points.

CoPilot Live 7 HD will alert you to road cameras and recalculate routes on the fly, and while it’s yours for a one off £65, you can subscribe for realtime traffic updates. Ta ta, TomTom!
