A Nokia handset running Symbian on dual or multiple processors could be on the horizon, according to the company’s top brass. Read on to find out how we know.
Dual core and even quad core processors are common place in computers nowadays to help chomp through any tasks, but could we be about to see similar tech arriving on a Nokia phone?
It’s the first ever Nokia Developers Summit this week, taking place in Monaco, and Nokia Conversations took the opportunity to corner David Rivas, vice president at Nokia in charge of software platforms, who predicted that Symbian will support multi-core processors “very, very soon”.
Given Nokia uses Symbian for both its Nseries/smartphones (S60) and entry level models (S40), that could pave the way for a super-fast Nokia phone (The Nokia N98?) that’d leave the likes of the Snapdragon fuelled Toshiba TG01 in the starting blocks. There are no more details just yet, but if anyone knows, it’s Rivas, so expect more soon.
