Whoa. Sony Ericsson just made a massive turn around on the PSP phone, with the joint phone maker’s CEO letting slip that a PlayStation mobile “could happen”.

We originally suspected Sony could be looking to make a PSP phone on its own, but with details of the PSP Go! emerging and ruling that out for the moment, perhaps Sony Ericsson is cooking one up after all: the company’s CEO says one is on the cards.

Speaking to the Financial Times, Sony Ericsson CEO Hideki Komiyama let slip that a PSP phone “could happen”, just as Sony Ericsson has used the Sony Walkman and Cyber-shot brands before it.

Sony Ericsson was believed to have pitched a PSP phone to Sony some time last year but been given the thumbs down – is Sony’s clenched fist wavering now? We’ve got our digits crossed.
