HTC’s second Android handset is only just out, but the smartphone maker is showing no signs of slowing its Android assault. A third Android model, the HTC Hero, has been leaking its way across the web, and has just shown up in a fresh spy pic.
Aesthetically, it changes little from the leaked shots we’ve seen so far, but thankfully the garish pink finish has been dropped in favour of a more refined grey.
We’ve also learned that the HTC Hero will sport a QWERTY keypad just like its G1 predecessor, although it’s said to have been reworked. Disappointingly, there are no shots of its slider in action yet, however, you can just about makeout the G1’s trademark ‘chin’.
In another divergence from the G1 design, the HTC Hero has no trackball, instead gunning for a more complete touchscreen interface.
Closer inspection reveals that the HTC Hero packs a proper 3.5mm headphone jack, which is much better for mobile music and infinitely superior alternative to relying on trashy pre-packed earbuds, putting it one step ahead of the HTC Magic.
Because this is a leaked shot, we can’t rule out the possibility of photoshop hoaxery, so treat it with your usual grain of salt. Given the close resemblance to the earlier leaked images though, we’d reckon it’s not far off the money and we’ll bring you word once we find out more about this elusive handset.
