Social networking site du jour Twitter has just been updated to incorporate new features, although it seems likely the changes will completely pass many users by.
The main change is the addition of a search box in the sidebar, allowing users to scour every public tweet in seconds. The official Twitter blog says that as soon as someone sends a tweet it will be searchable across the entire service.
Also new is Trending Topics, which is a list of the ten most popular words or phrases used in recent Tweets. So at the time of writing, for example, we’ve got the likes of “Happy May Day”, “swine flu” and “Carol Ann Duffy”.
The changes affect the homepage rather than the way Twitter works, so those that prefer to do their tweeting using their mobile or applications like TweetDeck may not even notice them.
