The Sims 3 is going to have much more of an online component than previous games in the series, EA has revealed. A whole new town will be available for download, as well as plenty of extra content and options to share ‘movies’ made with the game engine.

The Sims 3 – the latest instalment in the hugely popular series of virtual human simulators – was delayed earlier this year to allow further development. It seems like on thing that EA was adding was a bigger online element to the game.

Via the official Sims 3 website, players will be able to download an entire new town for their Sims to inhabit. The site will also act as a hub for some interesting online and social features. here are some of the things you and your Sims will be able to do on t’internet.

The Sims 3 Store will be the the place to spend SimPoints to buy in-game items (clothing, furniture, etc.) for their virtual consumerists. Each copy of game will include $10 worth in with the price, with 500, 100 and 200 point bundles being avaiable via PaylPal, etc.

Create a Movie and Create a Story provide simple tools for creating and uploading Sims 3 machinima – ‘movies’ created by directing the Sims to act out roles. These can be uploaded and shared with other players who can watch the movies via their copy of teh game.

My Page offers a blog-like space that players can update with news and use as a social network to communicate with (and make) Sims 3-loving friends.
