Looking forward to a long weekend? We bet you are, but there’s Friday to get through first. Get the day off to a great start with all the latest tech news rounded up in one place!
If you’re a Vodafone customer there’s even more reason to celebrate. Today all Vodafone customers can hop on the web through their phones absolutely free. The “Freeday” Friday will last until tomorrow morning, and is being used by Vodafone to promost its new 50p mobile web browsing daily rate. Just hit the Vodafone live! or browser icon on your phone’s menu and hey presto, you’ll be online without paying a penny!
Other phone news comes from Palm, which is rumoured to be working on a Palm Pre follow-up: the Palm Pre Mini. It’s still shrouded in secrecy, but if the tittle tattle doing the rounds is to be believed, the new phone will be smaller, and aimed at a a slightly lower-end audience than the Palm Pre. It seems to make sense, since the Palm Pre’s smartphone abilities, while whizzy, also come with a hefty price tag.
Lastly, it was a bumper day for Sky HD yesterday. It announced over a million Brits now subscribe to its eye-popping satellite service. It seems the recession has been kind to Sky HD, with more people staying at home and entertaining themselves, spending money on HD services.
Sky even claims to have sold a Sky+HD box every 30 seconds during the first three months of this year.
