Apple plans to make the new iPhone a miniature powerhouse of video capture, editing and sharing, according to the latest rumours.
We’ve already seen mentions of video abilities inside iPhone OS 3.0, and now it seems iMovie is about to make the jump to mobile. Read on for all the details.
BusinessWeek‘s Peter Burrows claims a “source familiar with Apple’s plans for the next iPhone” has informed him that video will be a major focus of the new iPhone. We’ve suspected for some time that video capture will be one of the main new features, but Burrows’ source says shooting video will be as easy as it is on the Flip range of pocket camcorders. That’s one-click, for those who’ve yet to see them in action.
And it doesn’t stop there. The new iPhone will reportedly also sport an iMovie app that lets users speedily edit their footage on the fly, without needing to transfer it to a computer. Support for MMS, meanwhile, will enable users to share the finished clips with their friends.
Apple seems likely to reveal the new iPhone at the Worldwide Developers Conference in early June, so we won’t have to wait much longer to see if Burrows’ claims are accurate.
