Mac users have been able to back up entire computers for over a year, thanks to Time Capsule and Time Machine – and now PC users are getting a similar device in the pebble-like shape of the Seagate Replica.
Looking like a cross between an overweight MacBook Air and the spaceship from Flight of the Navigator, the Seagate Replica allows Windows users to automatically back up the entire contents of their PC (or several PCs if you opt for the multi-PC edition).
It lacks the wireless connection of the Time Capsule (this uses USB 2.0 instead), but comes in 250GB and 500GB capacities, the latter being the aforementioned multi-PC edition. You can fit it with a dock, in order to mount it vertically, not to mention pick it up and take it away without having to fiddle around with USB and power cables.
We don’t have a UK price or release date yet, but it costs $130 and $200 (£88 and £136) in the US.
