Samsung Omnia Pro due in July?

The Samsung Omnia Pro is being prepped for a July release, if the latest murmurs are to be believed, with a touchscreen and slide-out QWERTY keyboard amongst the new additions. This mock-up has also slipped online, giving us a hint of what’s in store. Ladies and gents, meet Samsung’s most desirable smartphone yet!

The Samsung Omnia Pro is said to sport a 3.5-inch 800 x 480 Active Matrix OLED touchscreen display, plus a full QWERTY keypad that slides out horizontally. Note that the pic above is just a mock-up made by the bored staff at HDblog so the final result may look a little different, but not too much different.

A 5 megapixel camera is assisted by image stabilisation software, flash and autofocus. The Samsung Omnia Pro will probably use the same 624 MHz processsor as the previous Omnia, however, keeping costs down. We hope.

No pricing details have been released yet – indeed Samsung hasn’t actually confirmed the release at all – but HDblog claim that the Samsung Omnia Pro will retail at a ‘very competitive’ price, probably somewhere under €500.

Contrary to previous rumours, the Samsung Omnia Pro will run Windows Mobile 6.1, rather than the the Android or Symbian operating systems. The OS should be upgradeable to Windows Mobile 6.5 when that finally makes an appearance.
