Facebook is set to announce new plans to open its data banks to developers. It could unleash a wave of exciting new apps, and let users do more with the media they upload to the site. But is Facebook about to open a new can of privacy-concern?

By opening up its databases, Facebook would allow photos, videos, notes and other media to be shared by third party applications. At present, all developers are allowed to access is your list of friends and the data you specifically tap into them. Under the new terms, your uploaded content will also be fair game.
