Good Monday to you. Hungry? We hope so. Today’s slap-up lunch includes a dollop of Apple news, a side helping of Facebook controversy and for desert, a nice bit of Blu-Ray mix-up. Read on, and get all the news dished up direct to your brain!

Apple’s iPhone has been making waves ever since its touchscreen prowess was first unveiled. Apple pledged that it was the easiest way to surf the web on a phone, and it seems the public have proved it right: the iPhone is now the most popular mobile web platform in the world.

Even more impressive is that Apple’s achieved the top spot without selling anywhere near as many handsets as its nearest rival, Nokia. The result? While Nokia’s phones are all capable of hopping online, more people actually use the iPhone for web browsing, giving Apple leverage to dictate new online standards.

Speaking of online standards, Facebook is poised to open its databases up with a slew of new access for developers. It’ll mean Facebook apps can dive into your photo and video collections, making use of uploaded material, not just your answers to quizzes and sheep-hurling contests.

Is it a breach of privacy? Is it pure innovation? Let us know in our poll.

Lastly, Blu-Ray has hit the headlines again, after Virgin Media discovered many Brits think it’s a type of broadband, not a HD medium. Seems all that marketing budget has gone to waste. Never mind though, Richard Branson’s planning a new type of “Broadband School” to teach tech-troubled Britons the difference.
