The iPhone is locked to networks all over the world, but the latest rumours suggest Apple could be about to set its touchscreen baby free on more than one network per country. Will that tempt you to make the switch?
Citing unnamed sources, USA Today claims Apple is in talks with American carrier Verizon, working towards the introduction of an iPhone to its network next year. That could put existing partner AT&T in the dark, but we’ve also heard that it’s looking to extend its contract for the iPhone, so is Apple about to end its exclusivity agreements?
It seems that way. Vodafone, which co-owns Verizon, already carries the iPhone in Australia, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy, India, Portugal, New Zealand and South Africa.
USA today claims “high-level” discussions are taking place between Verizon and Apple, and have been going on for months, even pre-dating Steve Jobs’ medical leave.

This is good news, give the operators that have good 3G coverage a chance.
