Virgin Trains has now kitted out all its Pendolino trains with Wi-Fi, courtesy of T-Mobile. That means cheap high speed web access for more travellers than ever before.

As before, the Wi-Fi service doesn’t come for free (unless you’re a First Class passenger): a 60-minute pass costs £5, although your minutes can be used over a 24-hour period and on any T-Mobile hotspot. You can also by a 24-hour unlimited pass for £10, or a 12-month subscription for £240 (£120 if you’re a T-Mobile subscriber). Alternatively, T-Mobile customers can buy 10-minute slots of use for 75p a pop.

The news comes only a few days after Starbucks severed its free Wi-Fi ties with T-Mobile in order to switch to BT Openzone, so it might provide slightly miffed T-Mobile customers with a bit of a fillip. As long as they use Virgin Trains, of course…
