The Nokia 6216 classic is the Finnish phone company’s latest handset stuffed with NFC tech so you can pay for anything you want just by waving it near. It’s also the first to fit it on the SIM card, bringing NFC a big bound closer to the mainstream.
The Nokia 6216 classic isn’t the first NFC (Near Field Communication) blower from Nokia, but this is the first one to fit it in the SIM card. You’ll still be able pay for sandwiches and train tickets wirelessly by popping the Nokia 6216 classic near a payment spot, but you’ll now be able to transfer all your credit card details securely locked away in your SIM when it’s time to upgrade.
Just unveiled at the WIMA conference in Monaco, the Nokia 6216 classic also sports a camera, FM radio, microSD expansion and 3G so it doesn’t skimp on the usual handset skills.
Forking over your hard earned isn’t the only thing you’ll be able to do with the Nokia 6216 classic and NFC tech mind: you’ll be able to stream music to speakers at parties just by standing near the decks! The Nokia 6216 classic is out in “Q3″, or late Summer onwards, for €150 (£134), so we’ll bring you more details wirelessly then.
