Killzone 2 might not be getting a co-op mode, but Guerrilla is definitely still rolling out updates for the PS3’s flagship shooter. A new patch is out tomorrow adding a number of gameplay tweaks, fixes and a new ‘Hardcore’ multiplayer rank. The patch is also paving the way for the upcoming Steel & Titanium map pack, due on April 30th. Killzone 2 v1.24 patch should be hitting PSN tomorrow.
The list of changes is as long as our arm, but most of it is designed to correct bugs and close some exploitable loopholes. Check out the full list here. There are a few items on the list that’ll enhance your gameplay, including “Three additional ‘Harcore’ [sic, presumably] Ranks added to the top limits.”
Since its launch in February, Killzone 2 has come under fire over the ease at which players can attain the General rank. So the addition of new ranks should help appease those who have complained about the lack of depth in the multiplayer.
There’s more good news from the Killzone 2 camp too. The game has recently passed the 1 million sales mark and has been helping drive sales of the PS3 console too. It’s not the fastest seller in the world, granted, but it’s definitely no slouch. If Killzone 2 can reach the same kind of multiplayer kudos as games like Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, then it should continue to sell at a respectable pace.
