The Sharp Mebius PC-NJ70A netbook has just been unveiled in Japan. On the inside, it’s a plain old 10.1 inch netbook, but on the outside, it treads where no netbook has gone before: it’s got an LCD trackpad to bring you movies on your mousemat!
Sharp promised us a netbook last week, and has made more than good on its word by trotting out a little laptop with a techie twist: the Sharp Mebius PC-NJ70A has a 854 x 480 resolution screen on the trackpad.
It’s not the second computer of the Asus M50 we saw at CES, but it’s a similar idea, letting you browse files and run apps on the second screen of the Sharp Mebius PC-NJ70A. It’s a fantastic solution, since netbooks often suffer a screenspace solution, and one of the most innovative ideas to the market in a while.
Inside, the Sharp Mebius PC-NJ70A is the same old story you’ve heard countless times: 10.1 inch screen, 1.6GHz Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, but we’ll take that when there’s a second monitor underneath your fingers!.
The Sharp Mebius PC-NJ70A netbook hasn’t got a release date yet, but we’re hearing a figure of 80,000 yen (£560) in Japan for both black and white versions, and we’re hoping the Sharp Mebius PC-NJ70A triggers more than a few wannabes, like the Asus Eee PC 701 before it.
