The pre-ordering has begun, and the Nokia N97 will be out in Europe this July, slipping slightly past Nokia’s promise of a second quarter release date.
The Nokia N97 was meant to be released this June, but Vodafone is now listing the touchscreen phone as Arriving in July. Not a huge delay, although maybe a month earlier would have missed the probable iPhone 3.0 launch.
No pricing is available from Vodafone at present, although Nokia has previously complained that an Expansys pre-order listing that set a price of £689 was ‘outrageous‘ so we are hoping this implies it will be a lot cheaper to buy outright, and that Vodafone will have plenty of juicy tariff options for getting an N97 for free, or at least pretty cheap.
The Nokia N97 is a touchscreen phone, with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and is the first of Nokia’s high-end N-Series to sport a touchscreen. The phone will run Symbian Series 60 5th Edition. Rest assured, we’ll be bringing you final pricing as soon as we hear it. Fingers crossed we won’t have much longer to wait.
