Sony Ericsson just took a dip in the red, announcing massive job cuts off the back of big Q1 losses.
The filings for January to March this year show Sony Ericsson made a loss of £316m, with sales down 36% year on year. As a result, Sony Ericsson has said it’ll shed 2,000 jobs – that’s on top of the 2,000 redundancies it’s already made.
The losses and cuts at Sony Ericsson aren’t a surprise: Nokia posted its results this week, and while it was in the black, it was down 90% on the same period in the year before.
Sony Ericsson has been through a rough patch though, with reported divisions in the partnership between Sony and Ericsson, and executives coming and going like the company’s fitted a revolving door in the HR department. Let’s just hope it can pull it together and start bringing in the dough with the Sony Ericsson Idou.
