The Nintendo Wii outsold its nearest competitor, the Microsoft Xbox 360, by nearly 2:1 in March in the US, NPD figures show. The Nintendo Wii sold over 600,000 units to US gamers. Microsoft sold 330,000 Xbox 360s. And Sony sold a mere 218,000 PS3s. Nintendo’s also trouncing Sony when it comes to handheld console sales too.

As well as dominating the American home console market in March, Nintendo sold 563,000 DS handheld consoles compared to Sony, who only sold 168,000 PSPs. At least the PSP should get a boost when Rock Band Unplugged hits 12 June.

Any reason why you only post NPD results? Surely a British site should be posting UK or European sales.

But then that wouldn’t fit the agenda would it, as it would show the PS3 outselling the 360.

Nah – whenever we get interesting UK sales results, or Japanese sales results, we’ll stick ‘em up too. It’s more a case of when sales results are particularly newsworthy or exciting.
“But then that wouldn’t fit the agenda would it, as it would show the PS3 outselling the 360.” Really, seriously, there is no anti-PS3 agenda here. Sometimes we post great news about the PS3, sometimes we post great news about other consoles.

In fact, keep checking back later today – there’s a story that really should be great news for PSP owners…
