God Of War III’s Collector’s Edition could feature all the previous games in the series, God Of War and God Of War II, on Blu-ray disc. Sony are currently conducting a PlayStation Network survey amongst fans of God Of War, asking what they’d like included in God Of War III’s Collector’s Edition.

As well as the usual t-shirt, comic book and “making of” feature, Sony looks set to offer the option of “God Of War and God Of War II on Blu-ray disc”.

Giving this option presumably means that Sony has come up with a way of running PS2 games on more recent PS3s, that don’t feature backwards-compatibility built-in.

Either that, or Sony’s going to have to recode two games from scratch. Either way, in porting the games across, hopefully updates will be added to improve the older God Of War games’ dated visuals to unlock some of the power of the PS3.

Click on the survey and hit “most important” for the older God Of War games on Blu-ray option. Hopefully it’ll finally give fans a Collector’s Edition well worth the mark-up (and new gamers to the superb action series a chance to really get their teeth into God Of War).

Out 2009 | £TBA | God Of War III

I doubt this means PS2 emulation, what this means they are recompiling and tweaking GOW and GOWII code for PS3. Still it’s bound to be nice, as GOWII looked fantastic upscaled on a 60GB PS3.

Infact I can hear the fanboys crying now, about how they bought the game once, and they should get this for free…

It will be 100% software emulation. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever why it cant be done.
