Nintendo’s Wii MotionPlus add-on launches 12 June. Designed to improve the accuracy of the WiiMote, MotionPlus won’t apparently improve the WiiMote’s accuracy with older games that weren’t designed specifically to work with the add-on.

GameDaily were told by a company spokesperson that the Nintendo Wii MotionPlus peripheral: “is only for games that are designed to make use of its abilities.” GameDaily had theorised that Nintendo would make software updates available for download that allowed for existing titles to make use of the Wii MotionPlus’ improved accuracy. Given Nintendo’s response, that now seems unlikely.

So, with Wii Sports Resort (and a Wii MotionPlus bundle) arriving only on 24 July, what will Nintendo Wii MotionPlus buyers be able to play using the add-on until then? Sega’s Virtua Tennis 2009 and EA’s Grand Slam Tennis could fill the gap, if you like tennis.

In further Nintendo Wii MotionPlus news, GoNintendo has an early picture of the MotionPlus packaging that confirms it will ship with a new rubberised straitjacket to fit both the MotionPlus and existing WiiMote. Nintendo has said it has “no plans” currently to include MotionPlus technology inside a redesigned WiiMote.

Who wants to bet a new Wii Sports title supporting Wii Motion+ will be out at Xmas, for the braindead consumers to purchase…

I would also bet money on there being shortages of the title, so braindead morons get into a buying frenzy.
