UPDATE: More Zune HD rumours have emerged, suggesting it’ll have an OLED screen!
New rumours around the Zune HD suggest the new Microsoft PMP could come with XNA support. In other words, it might even run Xbox Live games: are we looking at the fabled Xbox Portable in disguise?
Gaming site Safety’s Off has it that the Zune HD will feature better XNA (Microsoft’s games development tool kit) support. If true, it means Microsoft is gearing up the Zune HD to take on the iPod touch as a gaming device, and it would seem to be backed up by the rumours of a Halo mobile game.
We’ve been told time and again that there’s no Xbox Portable coming, but if this rumour proves true, it could set the Zune HD up as an Xbox Portable in everything but name.
Moreover, if the Zune HD does have full XNA support, developers could easily re-code Xbox Live Community games for the portable device, making it the closest thing to a full-blown Xbox Portable.
Of course, it’s all conjecture at this point, at least until Microsoft officially unveils the Zune HD.
