The Packard Bell dot netbook that was shelved a while back has just made a surprise come back, and this time, it’s packing 10 and 11.6 inch screen sizes. Exactly like the new Acer Aspire One models, wouldn’t you say?
The Packard Bell dot has returned in two new flavours: the 10.1 inch Packard Bell dot s, and the 11.6 inch Packard Bell dot m. Both use the formulaic Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Atom processor, 1GB RAM and 160GB hard drive set up, although there’s also optional 3G and Dolby Sound.
We’re a little bit puzzled by the move, as these new Packard Bell dot netbooks are almost exactly the same as the new Acer Aspire Ones (Acer also happens to own Packard Bell), albeit with a few design tweaks. The outer casing looks much nicer now, though we’d still like to see a chiclet-style keyboard like the new Eee PCs.
The similarity might be why Packard Bell isn’t saying when the Packard Bell dot s and m will hit the UK, but both are shipping to Europe this month at €299 (£266) and €399 (£355) respectively, and you can check them out in the gallery below.
