A new Sonos iPhone app has just been released, bringing the full functionality of the Sonos hardware remote, with none of the absurd price. Interested in snagging a Sonos setup at a reduced price? Read on to find out how much you can save.

Sonos released its controller app for iPhone last year, but the new Sonos iPhone app out today adds complete remote functionality, including computer-free setup. Previously, that was possible only with Sonos’ pricey hardware remote.

Now, the new Sonos iPhone app will let owners take charge of their multiroom audio system, create and edit multiple alarms and set timers, and search for folders straight form the iPhone.

What’s great about this is you can now buy a Sonos system without having to pay for the hugely overpriced (£279) remote. With the new Sonos iPhone app, you can get a working set up for £249 (The ZonePlayer 90, though it isn’t amplified), or the ZonePlayer ZP120 for £349, which just needs speakers.

As well as adding more comprehensive functions, Sonos has also updated its software to 2.8, adding Deezer Radio support, a service not dissimilar to Spotify. The new Sonos iPhone app is available to download for free from the App Store today. If you’re in the market for a Sonos setup, it could help you snag one without saving up!
