Here’s a DIY challenge for the long Bank Holiday weekend: go back to the future and replicate this retro 1957 Magnavox TV casing, hollowed out to install a colour screen and set top boxes.
You may swear by your 1080p flatscreen TV and Sky+ HD set up, but deep down we’re wiling to bet a bit of you yearns for the yesteryear, when hand-crafted cabinets like this 1957 Magnavox clogged up the living room, beaming out fuzzy, warming, monochrome images.
One enterprising modder has combined the best of both worlds, scooping out the innards of this 1957 Magnavox TV and shoving in his set top boxes where the Magnavox speaker once was. We reckon there’s more than enough space inside the Magnavox TV to squeeze your Apple TV, Freesat box, Blu-ray player and console.
Don’t take our word for it though: try it yourself! You can pick up a retro TV like this Magnavox on eBay (Here’s one), so get your bid in, beat the crowds to B&Q and start hacking! It’s got to be better than a wet weekend of wallpapering, after all.
