Crazy Japanese watch-maker TokyoFlash has outdone itself with its latest timepiece. The Kisai Denshoku watch uses bright orange bars – inspired by Shinjuku’s neon lights, no less – to tell you the time in three stages. Read on to find out how.

Look closely and you’ll notice the Kisai Denshoku has twelve bars. Well, hit the button and you get one set of lights for the hour, then one for the first digit of minutes, then one for the second digit of minutes.

Yes, it’s a little convoluted compared to a simple set of numbers or a standard face, but where’s the fun in having a watch like everyone else?

The Kisai Denshoku is made of aluminium and uses LEDs to create its light effect. It can be switched to a dimmer energy saving mode if you want to conserve the battery.
