The Nintendo Wii and DS consoles are to get a joint video download service. Nintendo head Satoru Iwata revealed the plans, saying: “If the Wii and the DS are connected, it should be possible to download video through the Wii and take it with you on the DS.”
The service would further add multimedia functionality to both the Nintendo Wii home and Nintendo DS handheld console. But, like with Nintendo’s new (and successful) camera-and-music-player-included DSi handheld console, Nintendo are apparently intent on ensuring that the video download service sticks to Nintendo’s approach to things: “When the service begins, you’ll see how we’re going to do it differently in a Nintendo-like way” Iwata told the Wall Street Journal. “There are a lot of on-demand video services, so there’s no reason to do the same thing, so we’re going to do something different.”
