B(l)aby MP3 player for unborn children

The B(I)aby really is what it looks like: a touch sensitive MP3 player designed to play soothing songs to an unborn child. Wasn’t April Fool’s last week?

It had to happen at some point, didn’t it? The whole world already owns an iPod. The whole world, that is, apart from those not born yet. The B(l)aby stems from the theory that playing classical music to a child during pregnancy increases its intelligence.

The B(l)aby is designed to play MP3s (Mozart, we’re thinking) through vibration speakers to the foetus as it grows, and it comes with a microphone to record the mother singing a lullaby for playback later. The B(l)aby even hooks up to an iPhone app and massages the mother’s lower back to reduce stress.

Of course, you could abuse it and play N-Dubz to it for three trimesters – thankfully for society then the B(l)aby is just a concept and nothing more right now, but we’ll let you know if Mothercare picks it up for retail.
