The LiveWire NavGenius satnav-cum-GPS tracker has just been announced, and it’s the most evil navigation device we’ve ever seen. It’s got fantastic web connectivity like the Tom Tom Go Live range, but it’ll also log your travels so others can snoop on you.

Here’s a bit of advice. If your boss or spouse gives you a satnav anytime soon, check it’s not the LiveWire NavGenius from Lightning GPS. Not only does it send live info of your location to the web, it comes with two manuals, one of which fails to mention this, and will even record your driving habits, from boy racer starts to screeching halts.

It’s a shame the LiveWire NavGenius is being pushed as a snooping device, as it’s got some ace satnav features in it. The person on the other end of the line can send new addresses and routes via the web straight to the LiveWire NavGenius, great for taxi drivers, and it’ll send alerts via SMS or email if the car strays out of a certain area, so the LiveWire NavGenius will let you know if your motor’s being taken for a joyride. Or, yes, round to your wife’s dancing instructor’s house.

Stateside, the LiveWire NavGenius ships in a few weeks for $600 (£400) plus $40 (£27) a month. We’ll let you know if it reaches Britain, so decide in the meantime if your trust is worth more than that or not.
