TomTom has boosted the performance of its TomTom ONE and TomTom XL satnav by loading them with the IQ Routes tech previously reserved for pricier models.

IQ Routes uses historical speed measuring to give you the quickest route for your particular time and day – so if you’re travelling at 8.30am on a Monday morning the route given may differ from the one given if you were making the same journey on a Sunday evening.

Both models also feature advanced lane guidance, which makes navigating complex junctions easier, plus a three-month trial of TomTom’s Safety Alerts and Fuel Prices, which serves up up-to-date speed camera locations and petrol/diesel prices. It normally costs £34.95 a year.
