iPhone OS 3.0 is meant to (finally) have MMS capability and the first evidence of the much-needed feature has been observed in the latest beta testing release of the OS.

The iPhone OS 3.0 beta is shaping up nicely, and testers have been able to witness actual Video MMS messaging on an iPhone thanks to the latest build. Granted this was only receiving a video MMS – Apple hasn’t actually come out and said that we will be able to make video clips with a 3.0-powered phone, but its a start.

The MMS features are not enabled by default in the iPhone OS 3.0 beta, but by tweaking a few settings your iPhone can gain access to features that lesser mobile phones have only been able to do since the early part of the century.

The beta is only available to developers, testers and Stephen Fry so the rest of use will have to wait until Apple officially pumps out the upgrade, probably by June this year.
