The HTC Magic will absolutely positively definitely be coming to the UK on May 1st. Probably. We were as convinced as anyone that the HTC Magic would be coming out this month, but new reports push the release date back until May Day.
The HTC Magic was listed on Vodafone’s own site as “Arriving In April”, but something may have gone awry as Mobile Choice reckons Vodafone is plumping for a May 1st launch.
At time of writing, Vodafone is still listing the HTC Magic as due this month so either they are a little slow updating their site or the new date is just a rumour. A May 1st release does tally with rumours from other teritories, though, so perhaps there is a bit of a global launch thing in the works.
The HTC Magic is the ‘sequel’ to the HTC Dream – aka the G1. The Magic shares the basic form factor of the G1 but loses the slide-out keyboard in favour of a Cupcake-powered onscreen soft keypad. Mobile claim that the HTC Magic will be available free on Vodafone’s £25 per month tariff.
