4oD, Channel 4′s free IPTV service, is now available to stream through web browsers, meaning you can catch up with Countdown and settle down to Skins on Mac and Linux as well as Windows.
4oD now offers shows from the last 30 days to stream through your internet browser. You’ll have to sit through an advert first of course, but that’s no biggie considering all 4oD offered before was a sluggish client you had to download first, and only worked on Windows.
The shows available on the new 4oD web service appear in a drop down menu, and there’s a wide range from across Channel 4′s stations, with everything from Desperate Housewives to televised poker included.
About time, 4oD. BBC iPlayer has always worked with Macs (Streaming at least), and Five opened the doors for Apple users back in February. Channel 4 says there are still no plans for a 4oD download service for Mac and Linux, but you’ll know as soon as we do if that changes.
