Apple is rumoured to be bringing out what analysts are calling its ‘biggest iPhone ever’ in June. Sadly, they just mean that it will have the most storage ever – our dreams of wandering the capital with a Dom Joly-style Mega-iPhone will have to wait until they bring out the Apple Tablet.
Apple is widely expected to bring out one or more new iPhone models this summer. A report by industry analysts Lazard Capital Markets published this week suggests that there are two new handsets in the works – one high-end, the other low-end.
The big one is Apple‘s replacement for the iPhone 3G – an improved high-end iPhone that will feature double the storage capacity of its predecessor, a whopping 32GB worth of apps, pics, videos and music.
The lower-end will take the form of a new iPhone model with less storage and a reduced feature set. This version will drop Wifi support in favour of a pure 3G solution and will be aimed at emerging markets such as Russia, India and China.
This isn’t the first time that a lower-specced iPhone has been mooted, but we have to say it doesnt sound very Apple to us. Apple has traditionally avoided the budget end of any market, so this would be a considerable shift for the company.
